What We Treat

“Sometimes you don’t know the weight of something you’ve been carrying until you feel the weight of its release.”

Anxiety

Excessive worry can be deeply distressing and severely compromise your quality of life, your ability to function, and even your physical health. Anxiety is so hard because it often feels completely consuming of your mental space. As if feeling worried was not enough in itself, anxiety tends to have a self-amplifying effect, wherein a person becomes anxious about being anxious.

It can be an overwhelming and seemingly endless cycle, but with the right therapies, please know that you can learn to calm your mind and find emotional peace again. At Onward Healing, we are here to help.

Depression

Sadness and feeling down are normal reactions to loss or life's struggles. But when intense sadness –including feeling helpless, hopeless, and worthless – lasts for many days to weeks and keeps you from living your life, it may be something more than just “feeling down”.

Depression can feel like a dark cloud looming over your head or a mental heaviness that you just can’t shake. It can feel hard imagine experiencing the vibrancy that you once knew, and hard to reach out for help. Please know that you are making an important first step by exploring therapy. You do not have to go at this alone and it will not feel like this forever.

Trauma

Trauma, or the experience of a deeply disturbing event, can have long lasting physical and emotional impacts on your life. Trauma disrupts your body’s natural equilibrium, freezing you in a state of hyperarousal and fear. Long after the traumatic experience is over, a person might experience extreme anxiety or depression, or they may have ongoing problems with relationships and self-esteem.

It may feel helpless to escape the grips of trauma, but with the right therapeutic interventions you can be freed from its emotional and physical holds and restore a sense of safety and control in your life. At Onward Healing, we specialize in working with trauma.

Pregnancy & Postpartum Mental Health

Although we are taught to believe that welcoming a new baby is a joyous occasion, for many, the transition to parenthood can feel isolating, overwhelming, and downright scary at times. Anxiety and/or depression of this kind can affect birthing parents, co-parents, adoptive parents, and parents through third party reproduction and its onset can occur up to a year after a child joins the family.

If you or someone you love feel overwhelmed, depressed, or anxious in your parenting journey, please know that you are not alone and it is not your fault. There is support available to help guide you back to health, healing, and well-being. You deserve the support.

Chronic Pelvic Pain

For people living with chronic pelvic pain, the drain of constant physical and emotional suffering can wreak havoc on one's self-confidence, sense of identity, and mental health. Often pelvic pain causes feelings of uncertainty, shame, and isolation, as well as a general sense that “no one, not even the medical doctors, fully understand what I am going through.”

Starting from a place of empathy and compassion, at Onward Healing our goal is to partner with you on this emotional journey towards heath. Using EMDR therapy to clear emotional blocks associated with chronic pain, and working closely with skilled pelvic floor physical therapists, it is a privilege to support you as you discover your own resilience and forge ahead to physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing.
